• Aims
To prepare students to become independent lifelong learners and problem solvers with generic skills, positive values and attitudes who can meet the rapidly changing and keenly competitive knowledge-based society. Students’ English language proficiency in the skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking are developed through a broad curriculum with scaffolded learning resources. Various activities are designed to motivate students for enriching their learning experiences.
• Strive for Excellence through English curriculum:
1. School-based Phonics Programme by NET
The relationship between sounds and their corresponding symbols, providing a strong foundation for speaking, reading and writing. The newly-developed programme for P.1-3 taught by NET can facilitate students in developing letter recognition and formation, identifying sounds in words and developing decoding and encoding skills.
2. From reading to writing
Reading illustrates the text type and context with language focus on certain theme. When writing is connected to reading, students could generate ideas, creativity and apply the vocabulary, organization and language structures on their writing.
3. School-based speaking programme
Fun Chat is carried out every English lesson encouraging students to share their thoughts and practise the use of English with peers. Presentation is another main focus in English lessons to boost students confidence in English speaking. NET and ELTA are in partnership with our experienced English language teachers to provide students the opportunity of the authentic use of English.
